the example of innocence and fidelity by which the angelic St. John Berchmans 
consecrated to Thee the flower of his youth,through Christ Our Lord.

Our true worth does not consist in what human beings think of us.

To merit the protection of Mary, the smallest act of veneration
would be enough, provided that it is performed with constancy.


If I do not become a Saint when I am young, I shall never become one.

As he was dying, he pressed to his heart his Crucifix, his Rosary, and the Book of Rules, saying:

These are my three treasures; with these I shall gladly die.
Prayer to Saint John Berchmans

Dear Saint John, you died at a very young age, but in that short time you learned to live an exemplary life as a member of the Society of Jesus. Directed by your Guardian Angel, whom you confidently invoked, you learned to be a most humble server at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Help altar boys imitate you in their service at Eucharistic celebrations as well as in their conduct with others. Amen.

Prayer to Saint John Berchmans

John Berchmans , my most loving patron, seraph of charity, I rejoice with you at the ardent fire of chairty, which kept your pure and innocent heart always at peace and united to God; I humbly pray thee, obtain for me such ardor of divine love that it may remove from my heart every inordinate earthly affection, destroy my evil tendencies, and cause me in all my actions to be prompted by the purest intention: All for the greater glory of God!
