St. Berchmans Autonomous College is the first higher education institution of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry. This institution was founded in 1922 by Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialacherry, Bishop of Changanassery diocese. It was started, with the noble aim of the Universal Catholic Church, to mould young men and women who will strive for excellence in every walks of life and human service. The College is recognized under section 2 (f) and section 12B of the UGC Act 1956.



St John Berchmans (March 13, 1599 – August 13, 1621) the patron saint of our college, is venerated in the Church as the patron of students. He was kind, gentle, and affectionate towards his parents and a favorite with his playmates during his childhood. He was brave and open, attractive in manner, and with a bright, joyful disposition. John also was remarkable for his charity towards others, for his cheerfulness and modesty. He is our heavenly patron and his motto is: “to pay attention to the slightest inspiration from God”.
