Shakespeare Theatre

The Shakespeare Theatre functioning under the aegis of the Department of English was founded in 1937 by Prof. M.P Paul. It is the only one of its kind in Kerala. The Theatre was inaugurated in 1937 with the staging of Macbeth under the direction of Prof. M.P. Paul. It has brought out 20 productions. The evergreen hero and noted actor of Malayalam films , Padmasree Shri. Prem Nazir, made his acting debut through this Theatre. The Theatre was sustained by the consistent hard work of Prof. C.A. Sheppard. Later Prof. A.E Augustine, Prof. K.V. Joseph and Dr. C.C. Thomas upheld the tradition and directed a number of plays.
